I picked one up at Lowes on the "dying plant" shelf as well! It was really beautiful, but VERY unforgiving. Most of my hibiscus can go 24 hours without water and spring back once watered. I'm sorry to say that the Luna Hibisucs was given a funeral within two weeks. :-(

Will those grow in S FL? I thought they were primarily for N FL and the southern states, the area just north of where regular hibiscus does well.

I have a few hardy hibiscus that have survived here in pots. If in the ground they seem to die off. They are one plant that during the summer you can keep a saucer under and they won't root rot. In the winter they need to be fairly dry and get a little cold. So I keep mine under the eaves of the house outside of the greenhouse. I probably water them once or twice the whole winter because they are dormant, they will rot if kept too wet. The one that performs the best for me and comes back reliably is Heartthrob! A huge deep blood red flower. I am in zone 9a so ymmv.

So should i put them in the ground? Will it die back in winter in s.w.florida? Or will it stay green all year down here?
