I've kept hoyas in the same pot for years and they are still doing well. However if your plant is suddenly going into a decline I would first take cuttings to start a new plant and then check into repotting.

I cant tell if this plant is doing well or not, we've got some great looking new growth but also some odd yell/pink/green leaves i'm not sure of

Staci... looks like you might be growing it in a full sun position, which explains the yellow (washed out) leaves. Try growing it in a shady spot, under a tree or where it only gets dappled sun or morning sun. NO afternoon sun. I think the pot size looks fine, but if it's been in a standard potting mix for more than a year, it might need to be repotted just because all-purpose mix becomes "sour" after a year or so and actually becomes toxic to the plant. I use a mix that includes no peat to avoid the need to repot often... coir and perlite. If you don't want to mess with a special mix, just repot yearly, even if it means just changing the mix, not the pot size.

thank you for the advice! this hoya came as a gift in this pot, i think the grower is exotic angel, so i don't know how long its been in that mix, when it came there were several yellow leaves already. where it is, there is partial sun at all times but at different angles throughout the day. ive been hesitant to bring it in for fear of bringing something to my other hoya

If it came from EA then the soil mix needs to be changed. They use a mix that hold too much water. I don't know how they do that without getting lot of rot.

looked over what i had on hand: Pearlite, Miracle grow Cactus & Palm soil, and sphagnum moss. can these be used for a hoya mix?
