I usually plant sometime between the end of June and mid-July. Plant much later than that and you may not get many ripe tomatoes before the first frost/freeze. The ones you planted 2 weeks ago ought to produce just fine, especially since y'all are getting cooler weather and nice rainfall.

I try to rotate every year, but in a home garden it is hard---especially since almost all my favorite things are in the nightshade family (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers....) and they all need to be rotated to areas where no nightshades have been grown recently. Since I don't always rotate, I have more disease buildup in the garden than I'd like. Next year I need to grow the tomatoes and peppers somewhere else---either in the back garden where the voles might get them or in containers or something---any place that is not the front garden, and it is going to be challenging to do so.

I don't remember the exact date, but I got mine in their fabric pots about the same time as you, I think. (Mid July) They are all blooming, and one of my Brandy Boy F2's is already setting fruit. I see a lot of blooms that look like they have set, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a crop before we get a hard frost. They are really enjoying our weather, that's for sure. I constructed cages so that I can put blankets or row cover over and around them, should I need to come late October. We usually have some really nice weather in November, if we can find a way to keep them protected somehow on those cold nights.

Dawn, my garden needs a serious tomato sabbatical. I have one of the F2 Brandy Boys on my back patio (really close to the garden) , just to gauge the difference between light there, and the light that the others are getting in the front of the house (more sun). Yesterday, as I was inspecting the trusses on it, I spotted a big old stink bug climbing a branch! I knocked that thing about 10 feet, and ran for the Bonide. I inspect these plants every single day to try to stave off any disease/pest decimation that went on in my garden. I know I'm being OCD about it, but I put a lot of work into the plants, the containers, the home-made potting mix, the fertilizers, making the cages, yada yada. I am NOT letting the bugs have them. Come on, fall tomatoes!! :)

We plant mostly in containers and 1 raised bed. Always compost the soil in the containers and start fresh every yr. with compost and other stuff!!

We have a Jet Star that is really doing well this yr. Our first yr. for it.

Early girl and Cherokee purple (I love this tomato) did really well early!

Mine went in at the end of July, so a little later than I wanted. Fingers crossed for a late frost. Two Creole, two Homestead, one Sungold, one Tommy Toe. Also a Cherokee Purple that I cut back hard and is coming back.
