I have some mammoth sunflowers. After a couple months and growing to about 10', they started growing the flower atop them. Lots of bees buzzing around and pollinating them. They did then start to grow the seeds as expected. Now that the seeds are growing it seems like each seed has also got a new little flower on it. If they've already been pollinated, what is the purpose of these new little flowers on them? No bees buzzing around them anymore.
