At my orchid society meetings, I've heard all manner of things from experienced growers, so I think that there is no "wrong" answer. Plenty of people say they NEVER stop feeding weakly, weekly, or every two weeks. The one constant is: watch your plant. Look for changes (i.e., if it skips a blooming cycle).

Most recently, a presenter who grew orchids in Puerto Rico said he feeds them the 30-10-10 throughout the growth cycle, so they'll put out a lot of growth, and when it's time for them to start blooming, he switches to 20-30-20 (bloom booster). I haven't purchased the bloom booster, but I DO intend to try this (for what it's worth, I DO stop feeding when I see spikes ... I'm afraid to do anything that will make them fizzle!).

I feed until they begin to bud and then I stop. I have had blasted buds if fed during that period. You must realize. the buds/flowers are formed before blooming. So feeding during bloom doesn't help anything. Their cycle is completed.

I personally do not believe in 'bloom boosters.' I think orchids should be fed during their growth cycle and feeding stopped during the bloom cycle.

Personal decision, people do what works for them.
