beach house kitchen update

Hi all, I posted awhile back about our kitchen at the beach; questions about countertop, appliances, and cabinets. Some progress...... Here is the before:

And the after (so far). We replaced cabinet doors, painted sides and face fronts, countertops, and stove, dishwasher and sink. Fridge is only a couple of years old so we'll stick with the white for awhile. Maybe it will find its way to the garage if we find a good deal on a stainless one.

I took these when I came into the kitchen this morning; not exactly staged for a photo shoot; lol! Next is a new floor and if we have any $$$ left, a backsplash. I'd also like to put up a roman shade on the window for a little more color.

Thanks all for your advice and help.

Looks good! Glad you kept the fish. If it were not at the beach I'd say the floor is classic, but you're right, it's not very beachy.

i wonder if a round stool would work better on the kitchen side than a director's chair stool?

Can't quite see the new sink, what'd ya do there?

I looked at the before and after twice before finishing reading your post, and all I was thinking was "wow that floor looks fantastic in that kitchen now". I think you have done a great job so far. It looks great! I would add the shade for color, but I would save my money on the floor if I were you. It works.

Thanks, bp and kai. The floor does look a little better with the new countertop I think. It's not out of the question to keep it. It's linoleum....a dying breed for sure. Maybe it will become the "in" thing again if I keep it long enough!!

Aw, it looks very nice! I'm glad you came back to update. I actually really like your floor as is and don't mind that there isn't a backsplash.

    It's looking sharp. Good job!

Thanks, shee. Yeah, backsplash has been low on the priority list. Nice, but not essential. We need something behind the stove though; Thinking of a stainless one there, leave the rest alone.

I thought linoleum WAS new newest back-in-vogue thing lol!

Our cooktop doesn't have a backsplash, I love the blue you have going on.

Oh, bp, we added a deep single bowl stainless sink; can't see it in the photos. I love it!

Nicely done! I think linoleum is great for a beach house and yours looks wonderful with the upgrades.

    Looks good!

It looks great! If you need something behind the range, I'd just add a piece of tempered glass.

Thanks soccermom. I was about to past a question about that. Didn't think about tempered glass but that's a great idea!

It looks wonderfully fresh and inviting and the fish and lifeguard type chair work so well. Your choices were perfect. Now relax and enjoy for a bit.

Very nice! I think the vinyl floor looks great, and it's probably very practical if sand is an issue, but I suppose it isn't classically "beachy". Still, I bet you can live with it. :)

What a great improvement! I really like the floor with the new cabinet look and the counters and so carefree in a sandy environment.

Looks really great Jjam! I remember making a comment that it would domino but think you did well in deciding to change the doors. It looks like a new kitchen not an updated kitchen. What company did you use for the doors?

Looks like a brand new kitchen to me. Great job! I like the floor too because it gives the room a cheerful, unstuffy vibe.

OMG, how pretty! You've done a great job so far, Jjam. I can't wait to see more as you progress.
