Please help id for this plant a hoya?

This plant is a bit of a challenge getting it type or name. So some suggested try the hoya group. Hope you Hoyan can help id this plant.

The leaves thicken, small than finger nails stack like fish scale, feel smooth like hoya indian rope.

When bought, soil always moist, medium coconut chunks.

I brought you here, hoping exactly these 2 women would see this; as I knew they could rule it in or out of Hoya / Dischidia question (meaning Aurora & Denise).

When I saw this at Houseplants, I suggested not Hoya / Dischidia, but some form of Crassula, explaining to you that Crassulas were a large family w/ stacked varieties as well. Could you pls keep checking there (at C&S) but give it at least a week? Really.

PS: I hadn't seen you'd posted at Hoyas already when I suggested it.

Definitely NOT a hoya....I'm not that knowledgeable about succulents, but probably someone here will be able to ID it....neat looking plant!

Staci, I think not Crassula rupestris subsp. marnieriana.

I have some baby necklace trying to propogate. Don't look the same sorry.

It is not a hoya. Hoyas, even Hoya compacta (hindu rope) grow leaves in opposite pairs, not in a cluster (whorl) around the stem.

It is true that Hoyas can occasionally put out clusters of leaves, but the leaves will always be opposite each other, not alternate or whorled.

Your plant has alternate leaves and is ALWAYS putting out clusters of leaves (not occasionally, like a Hoya).

It does remind me of a crassula of some sort. The http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/houseplt may be able to help. Alternatively, so might http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/cacti.

I have tried cacti group, no luck, will try house plant group.

This is a tough plant to name...

It is! Whatever it turns out to be, it is a very nice looking plant with a beautiful growth habit!

Yes, when I saw it at the farm, is a keeper. The farmer gave a price but the wife did not want to sell it. Because there is only 3 plants, farmer said he never seen this so he bought the lot which is only 3 plants (from thailand). After much negotiation he sold us 2 plants.

We were lucky to get hold of it. Doubt we ever get a chance to buy it anytime. I would say lucky me.

THAT is an interesting plant!! If you figure out what it is, please let us know. The leaves look like they cup backwards?? I would be looking at Thai vendor sites trying to figure out what it might be. Maybe even e-mail a pic to one of them and see if they can help.

Hi All, I when back to the farm that I bought this plant. The farmer said that the Thailand supplier called this plant Dischidia.

Google it, cant find same type. Any advice?

I have to admit that I wouldn't be surprised if it is a Dischidia - it's just not like any I've ever seen. However, I have a clone of ruscifolia that stacks similar to that. But ruscifolia's leaves are shaped oppositely, meaning they are heart shaped, but the point of the heart is at the leaf tip not the stem. I'll do some hunting and see if I can find Dr. Livshultz (the Dischidia expert) and show her a photo...

The farmer only have 3 plant, we bought 2 smaller ones. The big one he wanted to keep it.
