They are brand new and just unfurling- they'll open up.

They look pretty sparse, though. It must be tough keeping moisture levels even in that little soil volume, especially among all that brick and concrete. Pay attention to that. Also, how often do you do a soil refresh/repot?

Thanks. I hope that is the case. It only started getting new leaves about a week ago so it still looks quite bad from winter. It's hard to see on the photos,but most of the branches have little red 'bumps' on them where the new leaves are coming out.

I have a pretty good soil with a good combination of drainage and water retention that works surprisingly well.

The tree has been in the pot for about a year and a half now. I'm thinking about repotting it in the spring.
