Superthrive experiment results

Some time ago I pondered the benefits of a product called "Superthrive", a micro nutrient supplement that I had considered adding to the water in my starter leaves.

I took a couple of photos that I will attach but they are not all that clear.

Since I was not willing to just arbitrarily start adding things to my water, I decided to do a little experiment. As I was getting rid of a large sucker plant on my "Island Hideaway" plant, I took the leaves off of it for propagation. They're were four nice healthy leaves of about the same size that I used.

In the top photo the two leaves on the left are just ph adjusted water. The two on the right are the same water with super thrive added.

In the second photo you can see that I marked the ST water w a small piece of blue tape.

In the third photo, you can see the actual leaves in front of their respective containers on a white piece of paper. Since the photos are crummy at best, let me tell you what I determined after a close examination.

The only difference I could see between those with and those w/o is that the leaves grown w ST seemed to have more roots. All four leaves had similar length roots but the ST leaves each had significantly more roots than the non ST leaves. You can kind of see it in the photos if you use your imagination.

Not really conclusive since it was such a small sample size. At any rate, since I already own a bottle of ST, I guess I will continue to use it. More is usually better!
