I have been dabbling w grafts done with Super Glue and sealing the top of scion with sealer. A anti-fungal sealer is what they say to use. Friends also mention about pruning a branch, wait for nodes at top to swell and then use those for your scions. Time will tell.

Rick, thanks! That's actually what I did and it worked great! I had previously cut and those grafts failed. So a new bud started to swell on the end. I used that piece for the bigger scion in pic. I sealed it with super glue and tied a bag around it. I used cinnamon for cuts. I kept in strict shade.

The first time, I made the mistake of not picking some with nodes. This time, the precut idea worked great!

Gill, thank you! I know what you mean. Some are not pretty! I'm a bit of a perfectionist and mismatched scions make me anxious lol! I was lucky to have a branch with nice sizes to choose from.

This was a beautiful purple graft plant. I realized that three of the big branches actually started below the hybrid graft! So I had to cut the one purple branch down and used that to start the other three with the purple. I wanted the entire plant to be the one color. I have one that didn't take so I'll get that one next time! I ran out of good scion.

Good job! I agree, well matched! I try hard to match mine up well but sometimes you get a gap as they fuse and I suppose when that happens I can hope it'll fill in, in time. Yours look good. Keep up the good work! I threw out several of my grafts because they were of my virused varieties and I saw no point in keeping them so, alas, tossed them out a while back. I may try a few more before my summer is out, with varieties I know are good.
