When you have been with figs for so long as Martin has, he knows what is a excellent fig. You don't have to doubt him.

Yes,it is as good in NJ,as in Chicago,except for some of the fruits that get ripe when,is raining outside for a few days in a row,and only if grown in ground and one can't avoid the rain, then it will spoil.

I am growing,an extra one in pot now to take inside in December,and get it back out in April.

This early ripening cultivar will produce ripe fruits,almost anywhere ,in the cold climate,if grown in pot.

Does anybody know, if RdB gives one or two crops. I have one in a pot and it produced brebas this year, but no second crop.

while i do not recall seeing breba on our Ronde it does ripen a second (main) crop. Not to say Ronde does not get breba but here in our area i do not recall seeing any like on other fig plants.

In yard this morning looking at fig plants took some more pictures.Ronde made around 3 seasons back from parent plant whose trunk badly split.

I have four plants of this variety growing in pots as they are all less than a year old started from a batch of cuttings. I left one fig on the largest one to see if it would ripen. It is the size of a large cherry now and we have about one more month of high temperatures. Do you think it can ripen to the point that it will taste sweet?

it depends when they first came out on your plant as you can count the days to get a rough estimate. Between 70 to 85 days to ripen as a rough estimate.

Mine first came out on plant in June.

Its been on the plant since mid July, so I'm hopeful. I couldn't believe it when one day I counted six figs on it, Its less than two feet tall but started out as a four inch hardwood cutting. I started out counting the leaves all last winter, but quickly lost count has thrived in full sun all all spring and summer.

Gred yes they do grow very fast a nice plant to have and enjoy.

Any chance I could successfully grow these in the ground inside the Cincinnati I275 loop?

For that matter has anyone else seen or heard of a ground planted fig tree thriving in the Cincinnati area?
