Not sure which one is the cara in the first picture but if it the the one on the far right, I would contact FW with a picture. I got one that looked the same (actually I got two, one yellow one slightly greener) It got worse and not sure if it will survive. I missed to notify them in time as I thought it will come around. But if you just got them, you can let them know that something is not right.

Yes its the one on the right. I thought something was off about how green/yellow it was. Do you know what makes it this way?

Susanne, ugh i just emailed them as much as i hated to because they are already replacing one that lost litterally all its leaves except 2 during shipping. When i opened the box a ton of leaves fell out. I was horrified. I just felt they were reluctant because im new to citrus even though it may have not been that way. Thanks for letting me know if it did indeed die later i would of thought it was a wrongdoing on my part. Do you think if you notified them now they may still help?

It is worth notifying them now. You have nothing to lose by doing so.

I just re potted the Fukushu I got from them yesterday and although it was still green, it had a very small root system and some of the roots just fell off because of rot. Not what I expected from them at all. Washed what was left, added root hormones to the roots (it is not the same as for rooting but comes in a blue box and for transplanting trees) and watered with root food. Will see how that goes. Now I wonder what I get next week :( Think positive.

Susanne, I don't quite remember, but if the Fukushu was one of the ones with the small canopy, then one would expect the root system to also be small.

In the meantime I took the yellow one out again, washed all soil off and found indeed som new roots that musst have ben grown the last couple of weeks. Added mycorrhizal fungi to promote root growth. Hopefully this will do the trick

Susanne, How long have you had the cara cara? Is that root system from FW? What else do you have coming from them? When i was reading they had such great reviews thays why i ordered from there that and they had better selection. Susanne im glad to see you do well in colder climates. I was a bit worrief because of our winters.

I got it about six or eight weeks ago I think. The green one looked much lighter in color too but really nice green now and is putting out a lot of new growth just not visible in the picture. And yes the root system is from FW.

All i can say is wow. Including shipping for what a tree cost from there... i mean i still have a few i want to order. Geeze.

well, if they have something you want bad enough....... ;) most trees just need a little bit more help then others. I'm sure the green one will grow vigorously and maybe the yellow one will pick up speed too. I got a trovita orange that looked (still) extremely nice when it came. Had seven oranges on there and I could not bring it over me to pull them off. All seven still on and getting bigger. :) Dark now but will take picture tomorrow. So it is not all bad from them. Just not always hooray ;)

Susanne, i called them today after i sent the picture and didnt get a email reply they said they did reply and are sending anouther one monday with the one that had no leaves. I wonder why im not getting their emails. That wasent my goal, to get anouther one, i was willing to try and save it first. Maybe if you called and explained that yours isnt doing well, and looked like that when you pulled it out of the box but when you got it you decided to just try to save it. They may help you. Anyway, im still going to try to save it. Should i do anything besides morning sun afternoon shade and water it as it should be watered? It has gotten more yellow and a bit droopier.

I got my trees end of june and too much time has past already. Although very very yellow, not one leaf fell of yet. Inspected half an hour ago and if I'm not mistaken, there are some nodes swelling up (hopefully not just wishful thinking) Did you re-potted when it came?

Yes i went ahead and repotted in 5 1 1. Maybe i shouldent of? Some of the leaves have fallen off mine but not alot. It may make it. I have a couple healthy leaves. I hope you do get new healthy growth.

The Tango mandarin I bought from FWG was on the struggle bus when it arrived with tons of yellow leaves. I pulled it out of the 8" deep soil, and only the top 3" of soil were colonized by roots. After this picture was taken, it shed about 1/3 of its leaves... but since then, it's flushed out a lot and turned 50 shades of gr(een) darker. As long as the plant survives the initial transfer into new soil, it should be okay.

As Silica said, though, I wonder if the owners have changed. We used to be able to order bare-rooted trees, but alas, that seems to have changed.

I can tell that it has anchored down into the 5-1 (I leave out peat) mix because it stands up to wind like no one's business!

Im glad it made it. Fifty shades greener. Haha. It looks good now. Im kind of scared of bare root i heard they sometimes dont fair well. Yea, we have a cat that showed up here that we say it is not ours but it sure does think we are his. We feed him and let him stay he so i guess we are only fooling ourself haha. He serves his purpose and hes entertaining.

Tom you are right, can not be your cat. Did not know you are my neighbor;) This is my Bella. She has to approve anything, everything and everybody. I have a couple of more including german shepherds but she thinks and acts as the boss

Nice GN! I am about to write an email to FW to complain about the New Zealand Lemonade I got last winter which looked like crap when I got it but they said it would be fine and has been slowly going down hill since then.
