Can this Bromeliad be saved?

The picture of the plant now.

The original pot of the plant.

Hey, my sister has a bromeliad which I don't know how long she bought it. We didn't know if its actually a bromeliad or not. (If its not please tell me!) She kept the plant in her room on top of her desk until that day when I came to clean her room I notice that its leave edges are turning yellow. I planted it in a bigger container because she never repotted it ever since she bought it and the poor plant's roots looked as if they're grown through the hole on the bottom of the pot!

Please tell me if the plant can be save or not.

If it can be same, please tell me how. Thanks!!

Ps. I poked some holes on the bottom of the container it is in now.

the soil is miracle grow moisture control.
