Cheese philo will have many branches if you give plenty indirect light. Under low light she prefer only 1 stem but grow fast to catch better light. Cut won't make any difference under low light.

I have Monstera adansonii and M. siltepecana which are very similar to the M. obliqua. You'll find these tend not to branch much so to get a bushier/fuller look you need to wrap the trailing stem around the plant or else take cuttings and plant them in the same pot. They grow easily from cuttings, provided you go about it the normal way for trailing aroids. They do look good when you have them in a big 'clump'.

Yup. Cuttings is best way to make bushier look.

this is more than likely adansonii as obliqua is extremely rare in cultivation

Thanks for the info! I am going to move to indirect light and see if it likes it better. What will happen where I make the cut for the cuttings? Will it grow new leaves?

This is obliqua. It's leaves not getting bigger. Just as big as hand palm. Have many holes since the beginning. Nice for hanging basket plant. Solaris pic above is young adansonii. Too smooth leaves for an obliqua.

Thanks everyone. I read the article and its def not obliqua. I know now it needs more light than many websites say. I will wait for it to get bigger and see about propagating. For now i will just let it grow. It has another leaf growing right now :).

Nice info, andrea. In monstera genus, only 3 or 4 species that have small leaves (less than 20cm long), and they are much different compared to obliqua. The rest are jungle tree climber that have wide leaves. Obliqua leaf hole size can be very large, but the small holes size is more attractive, so the small one that spread through nurseries.

I had to propagate my adanosii to fill up the pot. My started as one looong stem as well. I'll keep propagating til I get the fullness I want. They grow pretty fast once it starts to take off!
