Looks like walnut travertine. Beautiful. You can use it where ever and how ever you choose within your home.
Have you though about the type of sealer you plan to use on it? An enhancing sealer will darken the coloring, similar to adding water to the surface except there will be no sheen. If you like the original matte tone straight from the box, use an impregnating sealer. Which ever sealer you choose, make sure it is a solvent based sealer. Solvent based sealers protect better against oils in foods than standard water based sealers and you don't have to reseal as often.

Personally, I don't want my bathroom to look like my kitchen, so I would do something different. But, that is a personal preference. Do what makes you happy.

now, it doesnt matter how nice the x is, someone will think its awful and there will be a lot of it. sometimes its good to mix it up a little.

*you* may even come to loathe it when its ubiquitous.

Can you post a picture of your kitchen granite?

In a bathroom, the countertops and environmental tiles don't really come into contact. In the kitchen, the backsplash comes right down to the counter. I'd want to be *really* sure that this backsplash goes with the granite you will be putting in your kitchen, where the counters are a much bigger investment and usually are supposed to be the star. You might want a plainer backsplash that won't compete.
