The reason I don't have an updated picture is because there is nothing in the room right now the cabinets are still being constructed it is just an empty space. But basically the room layout will be the same except that I remove the double ovens and so it will be just a cooktop where it was and two upper cabinets

Usually the backsplash is considered "needed" only behind a cooktop or sink, since both are splashy areas. Obviously you can do the cooking area, but there's almost no wall behind your sink unless you're removing the window frames, so I'd either put an inch of your counter material along there or just paint with semigloss to repell splashes. (If you're doing a colored backsplash, you could paint the lip under the windows to match...)

I wouldn't say it's necessary for your kitchen, but you just have to ask yourself if you'll like the look of it only being on one wall. Carrying the backsplash on the whole wall may look better to you. I think you have a few options

1. Only but a backsplash behind the stove (you can either let it be a statement or find a paint color so it all blends)

2. Backsplash the whole area, up to the ceiling.

3. Use the same stone as the countertops behind the stove so it blends with the countertops and doesn't stick out as much

I’m seeing this years after your post…what did you do??? I’m currently redesigning my new home kitchen that has a similar situation. I’d love to see pics!
