Smaller Homes Lighting Design Dilemma

Need help with open room lighting

I am needing help choosing lighting for my open living, kitchen, dinning room. I am going for the farmhouse look and I would like the oil rubbed bronze I think. The rooms are all pretty small as the house upstairs and down is only about 1,400 to 1,600 sqft. Does anyone have any ideas. I would like to pick them all up at Lowe's or Home Depot because that will make them easier to return if I hate them. LOL

You can't go wrong with an oil rubbed bronze finish. If you would like something classic you could go with a light fixture like the one above.

Another great option would be some sort of recessed lighting or a flush mount light.

I agree with @Ciboro, some recessed lighting would be nice.

Consider wall-mounted sconces as reading lamps for your comfy chairs. They usually don't have to be hard-wired in. They can take the place of a table or floor lamp and hence reduce eye clutter.
