Choosing backsplash for kitchen

last modified: 9 years ago

HELP!!! It's going to be soon 4 months, that we had our kitchen countertop changed to TCESTONE #3008. We also had the backspash removed at the same time. Since then we are having a tough time choosing the backsplash, and have actually gotten use to having drywall, with pencil marks, as our backsplash. (we've now asked the children to draw pictures so we can start to tape them up as our beautiful backsplash. Our cabinets are white, and appliances are stainless steel, floor is off white with very light coloured swirls in it. What backsplash will look good with TCE#3008, white cabinets, stainless steel countertops???

(NO subway tiles, thin horizontal tiles, square small tiles (reminds us of the bathroom floors, and no plain looking tiles)

Thank you for your advice!!!

that's the image of TCE 3008 which I found when googling

does it look like your countertop, or not?

can you share a pic if you have it? It's hard to visualize how the stone looks from internet images..they all show something different

I am not sure what your counter looks like but here are some that are pretty with white cabinets:

If these are too "cool" for your flooring and countertop, there probably are similar made with warmer tones.

post a pic of your kitchen. (wouldn't it have been easier then attempting a written description?) we can't recommend anything without seeing it. cabinets, flooring (off-white w/swirls means nothing) wall color, all come into play. Besides, no one has time to google that code and figure out if it's really yours.

    Here's what it looks like:

I don't see how you're going to put a non-plain tile with that unless you have a high tolerance for patterns that fight each other. Your best bet is to pick a gray or cream tile because there will be a lot of choices in those colors.

Yes, that is the colour.. here's a picture.

I'd just pick a light tan color from the stone/floor that will give a little contrast to your cabinets without competing with the counters. Lowes has a pretty tile called Pearl (I think) that you might try -- you'll need some samples to find the right tan.

Otherwise, if you want a bit more drama, a crackle tile could add a little texture without too much pattern.

(That one is from Floor & Decor, I think.) In either case, use a matching grout.

the crackle look is okay... but just plain is too plain we found, bc the cabinets are plain since they are white.

how would you think if the same countertop is used as the backsplash as well? ... is that old style?

i saw one at Home Depot, and it looked beautiful.

Such good feedback everyone! I should have done this a long long time ago!

The counter reads warm and so does the floor, so a tan would be better than a gray. I think the cabinets are too white to do an off-white or cream tile. Hand-glazed tiles will give you some variation so it's not a solid wall of one color.

This is one of my favorite warm-toned backsplashes. I like the white grout with the white cabinets.

My kitchen is similar. It was difficult to find the transition color. I actually had white and ripped it out immediately.

The idea is to match as close as possible one of the creams in your granite so that the backsplash has something to relate to.
