My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Cable rail design.

Contractor has added a piece of pressure treated wood to cedar wrapped columns to attach the cable rail system. This does not look good in my opinion. The extra piece of wood spoils the look of the cedar columns and will never stain the same as the cedar.
Advice for alternate design wanted and welcomed.

    The cedar on the columns don't look very thick. They may not stand up to the pressure of a cable rail system. If the extra board is necessary for support, I would suggest replacing it with cedar as well.
