For shelves or bookcases, that's a personal preference. How many books do you plan on keeping there? Shelves wouldn't have been enough room for us and I didn't want to rotate out books so we used and use a bookshelf. (Bolted to wall.) If do you use shelves and run out of room you could keep extra books in a basket somewhere if you have space. That new bookshelf is cute but doesn't look practical to me.

Don't put anything an active child can pull over on himself in this room. That includes floor lamps etc. If the bookshelf is old and very heavy, you'll be fine; it not, it must be bolted to the wall.

Is this room for play as well as sleep? If it's for play, low cubbies for toys are very useful. I'd get either a ceiling light or install a wall sconce for reading in that chair.

Be sure you put that blind cord up VERY high - a child can easily hang himself from such. Better still, buy cordless blinds. No pictures over the crib - as soon as he can pull up and stand in his crib, it might come down on his head.

I'd get a much bigger bookcase. My children had SO many books, and we wanted to encourage them to explore the books on their own in addition to us reading to them, so we used 2 shelf high bookcases that spanned the entire wall. Nothing is cuter than seeing your two year old plowing through a pile of books "reading" to herself! :) BTW...I adore your rug! And the bunny art! (Just move it to a different wall.)

Hey there, I would paint a wall or pin stripe the wall to make the room pop.Congrats on your new bundle of joy.I would also visit hobby lobby for wall décor.I love designing children/baby areas.I think there are a lot of cute items at the AtHome store as well for baby.Keep us posted.Best of luck....
