Look up corking on peppers google images. Jalapeño are known to do that.

Most of the ones on the four plants we're growing this year are clear, so I thought it was something amiss. Thanks!

These are Farmers Jalapeños.

It's called corking and Xalapeños are known for it. Other chiles do it, too.

I did notice corking on a few of the older, smaller King of the North bell peppers we're growing, and didn't know it was a pepper 'thing'. Thanks for your answers! Bon apetit!
