Need to update my home for a warmer climate place!

I recently moved to a place near the beach. Unfortunatelly, My furniture is too modern for the beach and the color palette is pretty dark! It doesn't work for a 95 - 104 F place! Please consider I'm on a tight budget. Any recomendation will be very appreciated!

I can tell you there are a lot of super modern places in Florida so modern in itself is certainly not a problem for your near beach place. I also don't really see anything wrong with the furnishings you have. It seems to me you have done quite a good job. Add some large scale art onto the walls if you want to change things up.

I agree with the other posters, let your style shine! You have some lovely things.

Remove curtains, picture, leopard throw..etc....go to a consignment store and find a painting to hang above side table. I favor the color celery green. It matches up well with black. Look for items like placemats, sofa pillows, chair pillows in same pop color. The ultimate would be plantation shutters on windows. A $$ saver solution would be faux, white, wide Venetian blinds...A $$$ saver solution would be to purchase 2 shower curtains on sale..make sure they are lined. Attach onto a black iron rod

To lighten up the living room I would say just replace the black carpet with something brighter

I lived in a beach community for a long time, and I saw all kinds of styles inside people's homes. Don't let the location dictate what you love.

I like the black and white rug don't get rid of it just store it for the Summer months and replace it for a bright colour for now like this for example it will pick up the red of the sofa and the yellow of the wall if you decide to paint it yellow that is :)

A white shag rug would look great in the living room!

I think your furniture is great. I would make some cheep and cheerful changes like getting rid of any black or gold accessories. Crate and barrel has some breezy light throw pillows on sale right now.
I would also swap out the burgundy drapes for white or linen.
In your bedroom I would get rid of the red shades and replace the drapes with drapes that are floor length. I would also find a new spot for the table between the windows. Also, hang the art in your bedroom closer together in a gallery style. Maybe add the two little mirrors from your dining room to the collection.
I have to agree that when living in a sunny/beachy place you want to have a light airy feeling in your home.

Genevieve, I Love test rug! That's just what o want for the living room! :D Thk u! Kmeeker, i Love tour suggestions! But tell me, instead of the black and gold deco... Should i use white or champagne instead? And what should i place between the window, getting rid of the little table? Also, I'm really looking forward to integrate the leaves pattern armchair... Remove window covers replace with white panels only. Replace art with a mirror, dramatic. To add light. Your furn is dark, you could change chairs, for color or a wicker in the blue gray tones. To give it a beachy look.

I see you already have mirror in room. Add a beach seascape in light frame to wall. Don't hang so high 4-5 above furn. Only. Loss bench and add tall big silk palm in wicker basket. Loss area rug. Don't need one. Remove small object on buffet. Add bowl of sea shells. Can get at Michaels. Add white coral on coffee table add a palm between dining area and end of sectional on that wall to give it a divider. Replace all pillows with navy and white. Modern furn can work at beach. Just get rid of heavy furn like bench and drapes. Art helps too. Same with bedroom add lighter colors get away from red and blacks. Go cool colors like pale aqua.

Panels on windows always go to floor. Recover headboard in a aqua. You can do yourself put right over other fabric use staple gun. Get all white bedding. White panels on windows only. New low longer TV media.Ikea has very inexpensive. Get white. Paint walls a cool pale aqua. Make headboard 2 shades darker same color. In living rm replace coffee table with square white one again Ikea.

Remove all small pictures from walls. Add palms instead. Get white slip cover for chair.

I think I'd be taking the space toward a sophisticated look, and forget about the beach. Maybe a nod to some bleached coral against black walls or a coral chandy. Your skylight could highlight a sensational wall sculpture. The only furniture changes I'd make would be elimination of the brown leather chair in favor of a pair of swivel chairs (even an outdoor one might do the trick,) I'd check the second hand stores to see if the dining chairs could be replaced with something having more curves and femininity.

In regards to the Beachscape as suggested by travisinteriors, I'm sorry I'm a bit late, but could have got you this a week ago if you thought it worked.
No red curtains...just go with white or cream. The headboard could lowered by placing it on the floor behind your bed -- it's overpowering your bed but I love the color. Anchor it to the wall with wood blocks to keep it in place.

When you get to your new place be sure to purchase several beautiful tropical live plants like palms.
One way to make your home more beachy is to declutter and put away lots of small stuff and keep only the larger items on display.

There is a plethora of sofa and chair slipcovers in nearly any imagined color. just pick the colors you are wishing for. how bout yellows, whites, orange coral for punch. Maybe some mercury and real white coral specimen accessories? A real Areca Palm ( 6ft tall). Put slipcovers on the dining chairs or buy 4 new acrylic clear chairs and store other til you go back to the black décor.
