So, how is everyone going to sow their seeds? Soak for 24 hours and plant like regularly? Are you going to use wet paper towels like Comsan suggest on his Facebook and remove the seed husks before placing in soil? If you use the paper towel method, do you place it on a seed mat? Sorry for all the questions. This is my first Grow Out and I'm very excited, lol.

Comsan recently made a post on how he obtains high germination rates with his seeds. I am thinking of trying it with the Bang Wangs, but am nervous and don't want to muff it up.

Has anyone started their seeds?

I started mine, one sprouted so far:)

3 of mine have sprouted so far. One of those doesn't seem to have seed leaves, so I don't know if that one will develop properly.

When did you both start them? Did you use Comsan's method to start them? When did you notice some have sprouted?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just curious.

I soaked mine on 10/3 and use Comsan's method on 10/4 for half of them. One actually looked like it already had tiny leaves.

I started mine on Sept. 27 and first noticed them starting to germinate about Oct. 1 or 2. I don't know what Comsan's method is, since I don't do facebook. I started them between layers of damp paper towel, and transferred the ones that have sprouted to a mix of turface, pumice, and bark fines. Here's a photo of what they look like today. They're very tiny. The one on the right is the one that doesn't have seed leaves.

The other three that I have show no signs of germinating so far.

I am so upset! Tomorrow my seeds will be 10 days old and they are rotting one by one. I don't know if Comsan's method makes them more execptible to rot or if it is just me. It's probably just me and my luck with seeds. The seed never really germinated they basically still look like seeds. I used the same coco fibers I did with my Roger seeds. Washed it and squeezed out the water and mixed with 50% perlite.

Did anyone else try Comsan's method?

Comsan sells DHA seeds.

Comsan's method

After soaking seeds for 24 hour very gently remove seed from husk.

Then, plant with the acute side down. Top of seed is not covered by soil. Last, put a lid over it for humility.

Thanks, Manda. I soaked mine for about an hour, then put them between damp paper towels in a plastic container with a lid and put that on a heating mat set to 75°. When they started germinating I took the seed husk off and planted them. 5 out of 6 germinated, but one of those didn't develop seed leaves, and it doesn't look like it's going to do anything. One seed rotted.

StupidLazyDog..I myself just started some seeds using this method last night ..how long before you transferred into the potting media? And also(this may be a stupid question but , is it easy... once they germinate in the paper towel, to tell what end should be poking out of the soil lol?(did you use any bottom heat for germination? Or just throw it on my pantry like I did with my lemon tree seedlings? I also tried putting a few of my adenium seeds directly into moist soil (last night, the same time I put the others in paper towels..then into a ziplock bag)... so I'll see what way works best I guess lol. I'm so sorry for all the questions and appreciate any input or help as this is my first time trying to grow adenium seeds and I don't have many:( Thanks everyone

Oops... what I ment by, useing "this" method .. is your paper towel method but I also just planted some in well draining moist potting media ..as I said..we shall see witch one works.. if any.. any tips?

Manda you are not the first and won't be the last to loose all your dha seeds if you follow the above method it will work i lost 80% of my first lot since then i have germinated lots don't soak any DR seeds for 24hrs around 2hrs is good you must keep the towl just moist you dont need light only warmth and humidity good luck:×)

Sara, the first one germinated 4 days after putting them between damp paper towels, the last one to germinate took 14 days. Once they've germinated, it's easy to see the developing root on one end and the seed leaves developing on the other end. I did use a heating mat for germination.

I did soak them paper towels for 24 hours, darn it. They have been on a heating mat this whole time, though. The ones that didn't rot, or haven't yet,still look like seeds. No growth from them at all. I'm so upset!

Yes i do use his mothod i soak for 2hrs then place them in between thick cotton surgical dressing only because it is sterile and stays moist for longer i find paper towel can dry very quick and the seed will not be viable or be to mushy i have even had weevils in the seed sent to me. alot can go wrong with these seeds .place an order to comsan on FB he is good to deal with .you will get there .:×)

Hello friends! Update on mine: 5 germinated and three just sitting there doing nothing. I kept mine in a paper towel and plastic bag for two days, then planted them in cactus/coco coir mix, had them on heating mat. Once they germinated I took them out and put them by the window. Will wait for another three, they look firm, but for some reasons they are not doing anything. I'm at work right now, will post pictures tomorrow:) Happy weekend everyone!

Hi everyone. It's been a while! I got a late start planting the Bang Wang seeds from the growout. I finally got them planted this spring, maybe about 5 weeks ago. Germination took 2 weeks or so. My germination rate was 100%. I planted 10 seeds total and all 10 came up. One had a damaged growth tip, so I don't think it's going to be able to form new leaves. The rest are doing ok. I have one that seems to be a bit more vigorous than the rest. They all seem to be very slow growing.

How are everyone else's doing?

I bought some more seeds from the same gentleman, which I planted at the same time. Emerald Crown and they are getting fat!
