It seems pretty easy to care for. Just dont over water it in the EA soil it is in and you should be fine.

Yeah, EA soil can be the death of a poor hoya. Maybe let it get used to its new home, but if it ever starts looking unhappy, repot in the same size pot but with good ol chunky hoya mix. Well, itty bitty chunky mix since it's an itty bitty curtisii.

I think I will re-pot it now it is still soaking wet from the store,I was going to but started to get nervous about it's care and my home can get very dry in the winter. My bathroom has skylights and with the tub and shower I hope it likes it.

I was surprised at all the different instructions online for care, everything from keeping it in a terrarium and never let get dry to just putting it anywhere and not worrying about.

Let me know how the repotting goes. I have not repotted mine, and it is from EA as well. Mine is happily growing in my bathroom at the moment. I have only watered it once since I got it early in the summer. It was soaking wet when I bought it and took about 3 weeks to dry out.

I repotted it and when I took it out of the pot,water was dripping out of it,gently squeeze and it poured out. I was surprised with all the roots it has as they were all the way down to the bottom of the pot and they looked good.

Potting it was an adventure because it seems so delicate and I did break off a few stems ,figured that I will try rooting some in water and others in media. I did only lose five little stems with all the handling of it.

So now its fingers crossed.

I won't even dare try to grow serpens here. Can't grow Bella either. Its dying already. I knew better but still purchased it :-|

HAHAHA Lydia! As soon as I stopped looking at mine it started to feel better. I purchased three tiny vines from ebay... only two lived and one died back a lot. I put it in a super fast draining shell with a tiny chunky mix and it has finally started putting out new growth. And it's in a south window, even though mine seems not to enjoy the brighter windows (I keep the high part of the shell towards the sun). I still haven't found a Serpens to kill. :( But my Mathilde is very happy.

I have Mathilde too. She is doing great! Even has peduncles!...awe, your curtisii looks so cute in that shell! Mine is still in the ea basket.

I've been wrestling with whether or not to repot mine. It is doing really well but is in the original EA pot and soil.

I split mine in two so I can try two different environments for them in hopes of one of them surviving.

I just found one of these at Home Depot today after looking for a year! Good things do come to those who wait ;) Thanks for all the input everyone..I'll try not to look at mine too much. Or threaten it. And Lydia, yours is huge. How long have you had it? Great growing! :)

Rereading this discussion with interest as I finally found another curtisii (actually 2!) to murder. I'm not sure what killed my last one :( It was in a very free draining mix and I do wonder if it got too dry? I'm now torn between repotting my new ones or leaving them in their dense potting mix. I left serpens in the same mix and its happy..

I ended up leaving mine in the same soil, but I took off the bottom tray of the pot in hopes of preventing root rot. It hangs in an east window and seems to be happy. I do spritz it now and then.

Mine does not seem very happy about being repotted and split but the the pieces that I put in water are sending out roots

Mine originally was quite long when I bought it, then I realized rot had set in before I had actually brought it home. So I started a new plant from a bunch of cuttings. I have it hanging in a window. Does anyone know why it grows away from the light?

Mine is currently blooming with 21 peduncles. West window. About 73 degrees. I drench it in the shower when the basket starts to feel light. I think stronger light and cooler evening temps. Water as it approaches drying but do not let it dry fully. smells amazing!

May I ask what part of the country you're in? Is it Spring for you yet? I bought one 2 wks ago, just finished changing out of its EA mix. Was starting to get yellow leaves. Big job, fingers crossed.

Hi karen. Im in fort lauderdale. The west window i have it in doesnt get brighter light until 3ish. And my aur conditioner is on constantly of course here. Id say it likes bright light and a fluctuation in temp.(cooler in the evenings). I heard this hoya was tough for some but i was shocked its blooming so profusely. Glad u got one. You will enjoy it :)

Well thanks Richard, I have the bright light of west window, but not fluctuating night temps (I will somewhat when AC season kicks in). I had a small one for some time, ultimately lost it. I may have let it get too dry.
