That is some seriously effective camo! I'm so envious that you can have hoyas climbing on trees. I miss Texas. :-( How are you doing after Harvey?

Yes, I didn't see it at all until it flapped around!....the Hoyas love it under trees. Only problem here is that this pecan tree will lose it's leaves and the Hoyas that attached themselves can get sun burnt. I'll have to pull them down or make cuttings out of them. Here is kerrii. She is up around around 7ft up from where she hangs

we were so lucky that hurrincane Harvey totally missed us. Not an inch of rain. We did however get rained on from that storm that was in the gulf close to Mexico. It was much needed rain and the Hoyas loved it. A few litteraly grew about a foot or 2.

Only saw it (the moth) because you mentioned it was there. Otherwise would never have seen it. Interestingly a friend recently sent me a photo of a Hoya kerrii in habitat (in Thailand). They go through a very dry season with plenty of sun in open forest, and the other half of the year have a lot of rain. They must be tough plants.

Lovely moth! We have tree frogs and Praying mantids that blend in up here. I miss TXn and the diversity of critters, though!

That is so cool. Although, it probably would have freaked me out to see it move because it really looks like tree bark :-)

My husband's office has a butterfly exhibit (largest one in the east coast) at our local Life and Science Museum. It's one of my favorite places to go on a boring Sunday.

It truly amazes me how a supposedly simple little insects can be so capable of things like that.
