Is this made from full-grain leather? Why is this leather prone to fading/spots (per description)? Would love to get more info on the construction/materials if available. Thank you.

It is full grain leather. It is a high quality uncorrected leather with very little top coating. This allows the leather to feel very soft and supple but offers less protection that leathers with more top coating. This leather will stain if you spill on it. This is much closer to natural leather than less expensive leathers. The frame is hardwood that is corner blocked and glued at the stress points. It has no sag springs in the seat and elastic webbing in the back.
