Color changing before my very eyes!

Wanted to share some pics of my bizarre 'pure' white plant. Earlier I posted a pic of it when it started showing a pale purple wash. Now two flowers opened with a comparably deeper purple tone than the others. I am wondering whether this is a culture thing, or maybe a sport that's starting to sport lol! right before my eyes!

Looks like Optimara Hiroshige

I've grown it ... and it does make this shift between white and violet-blue.

You've grown yours amazingly well ...

Very good older Optimara variety. Not easy to find nowadays.

Ooh, I am now hoping my little morphing plant starts looking something like your pic, Aegis!

This was my first purchase, and my first experience with mail order. Imagine my disappointment when I unwrapped a plant that looked like this, lol! My first thoughts were to trash it...glad I didn't. Was too new at this to realize what a little time and some TLC can do for these plants.

It's so pretty!! I also think I have what you have. One of mine--when it was last blooming--began to look exactly like yours and the other descriptors sound/look very familiar. Attached is the last pic I took of it with blooms and then today.

If this is the case, it'll be the third Artist's Palette I've gotten by total mistake!

DVolet1 - now you understand - that with all the damage - you got a good size very healthy plant with some leaves missing. It recovered fabulously. Sometimes it looks like somewhere in USPS system the box was run over, kicked up and thrown against the wall 10 times. SO packing should be done in a way that the plant so wedged - that it cannot move. The bigger the plant - the more chances it will break something when they play soccer with a box - but it will survive and flourish in good hands. Kudos to you!

it is indeed a Hiroshige. Loved this one myself and really bummed it grows straight up. The coloring on mine are very light too

I'm thrilled to hear that about Hiroshige. Still, if I ever decide to present it, it gets listed as a NOID! No documented papers, lol!

Irina, that's exactly how I pictured it being handled. And I do think they goofed in the packing as the plants moved freely in the box and 2 were laying over on their side. This one wasn't the only one damaged. This was a seller's choice order and I'm not complaining anymore. They put in what I now consider very special varieties.

We are buying new varieties - not show plants... As long as it is not hopelessly dead - each broken leaf gives us new possibilities. I always harvest a leaf or 2 from a new plant to restart. The ones that were born in my home always perform better.
