Patience, water & no fertiliser is the prescription I follow when my newbies seem to have transplant shock. They usually rebound in a couple or 3 weeks. I just had the same thing happen when I transplanted Yellow Brick Road a month ago, it's thriving now.

Gosh I hope your right! I'm no rose expert but I have grown lots of roses and my daughter who has never grown anything but house plants is convinced I dont know what I'm doing......she even went on line and read some generic rose growing article and said "we need to give it nitrogen mom".

Its fall and in general I have never given my roses much food in the fall especially transplants.

Im nervous I guess .....if the darn thing dies I will never hear the end of it.

Please, please talk her out of feeding it anything until it has rebounded. I don't know what zone you're in but it is rather late in the year for even feeding healthy roses.

After being in a pot for two years did she notice if it was root bound. That could be a problem if they weren't teased out. Other than that transplant shock sounds right. You are right of course that it is not necessary to fertilize a rose this late and not on a stressed rose. Is it possible that the rose ran out of water. Sometimes that potting soil can dry out to the point it repels water even if the surrounding soil is moist. I think your in between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Hope the rose live a long healthy life.

I imagine it was quite stressed after being in that pot for 2 years....it did not want to come out of the pot. And that I believe is the cause of the over reaction of the poor thing.

My daughters over reaction is due to her lack of trust in my knowledge which is why I came here to get support for my decision or find a magic potion!

I will not let her feed it....and I really appreciate you guys backing me up

In the end I think a mother daughter counciling session is what is needed !!
