Wasn't invited, but best wishes to the mother-to-be.

Fun2BHere, there was a public post (with a title that escapes me- but it did not shout "shower" ) on this forum a couple months ago concerning the shower. Everyone was invited. The virtual hostess did a great job organizing and setting up the party.

Sorry I missed it, Maddielee, but that's okay. Hope it's fun.

What is a virtual shower? I also hope it was fun!

I hope it was a great success. I thought I could join in but instead I spent the day on the PA Turnpike driving home from a trip to Pittsburgh. But I was there in spirit!

Hi everybody, I should probably should've popped into this thread earlier but I actually went to see Brian Wilson perform Pet Sounds tonight!

Mtn organized and many attended a "virtual" (online) baby shower for me and baby robo which is just about the sweetest thing ever!

I had packages arriving in the mail and my sister helped me label and put in bags.

The ladies had arranged a few surprises, so I received a beautiful (low maintenance) succulent delivery this morning.

I don't think the picture does it justice but it is lovely.

Even more surprising, I got another knock on the door just after the shower started and my friend Crystal was there (she runs a fancy local cake shop) with a gorgeous woodland theme cake! The flavour was lemon lavender.

    To be continued...

There are even a few more gifts on their way next week, including a group contributed IKEA gift certificate! IKEA opens here in Halifax on September 27 and we are all super excited about it.

So anyway it was a very special afternoon and I would like to thank everyone who contributed, participated and sent well wishes! You are truly a very nice bunch of people and I am stunned at your thoughtfulness and generosity!

plus hearing pet sounds and good vibrations live in person tonight was the icing on the cake!

robo - It sounds like you had a wonderful time and it was a success. I couldn't download the app as my computer is too old but I was thinking of you all. There is a little something on its way from the west coast (I'm surprised it wasn't there on time but we are talking about Canada Post!) and feel free to post one of them (you'll know). Congrats again and you look marvelous.

Robo, thanks for the photos. I'm so sorry i had to miss it. I have out of town family in town for the NFL game today--the quiet before the tailgating commences this morning. Seriously, half my hometown who doesn't already live here in my current city is here for the game. The gifts and cake look amazing!!

This self-proclaimed idiot used the prescription eye drops for dry eyes that I had picked up at the pharmacy for the first time. I'd been warned of the side effects, and very seldom take meds of any kind. The stinging and temporary resulting blindness was a shock, and I had to feel around for the microwavable eye mask and use that til the pain went away and I could see again!

I agree that the cake looks wonderful and is a work of art, and I am so glad that you liked the baby raccoon.

Sorry I missed it! Just my luck my computer caught a virus late Friday night and it took all day Saturday to fix it. Robo, so glad you enjoyed it. A big "thank you" to Mtn for organizing the entire event and getting our gifts to you on time!

It really was fun. Add my thanks to Mtn for a great job organizing and hosting.

My3Dogs, I use Restasis and once in a while, they might sting a bit, for the most part, I don't have issues. Is that what they gave you, or the newer one that is on the market?

Robo...so jealous you got to see Brian Wilson! He was at a smaller venue here but was already sold out by the time I heard about it.

Yes, I can attest that Mtn did a superb job organizing everything. It was a lot of fun....And thanks again to Robo's sister for wrapping the gifts so Robo didn't have to open a bunch of brown boxes.

My3dogs - Your felt animals always make me so happy! That raccoon is adorable. Please let me know if you ever decide to sell through Etsy or eBay. I showed the raccoon to my son and he said, "That reminds of the squirrel you went nutty over". I guess he actually does pay attention.

I was looking forward to the shower for BabyRobo. My phone rang at 9:30 Friday night and I had to go relieve the RT on duty that night. I work nights pretty well but there's no chance of being awake the next day until mid afternoon. Congrats again, Robo.

Sorry I missed it. I have only been popping in and reading 2-3-4 threads here and there for a while. Before Harvey, we started a full house reno of my sister's former home. After Harvey, we had to track down shipments -- appliances and cabinets, that got shuffled in the floods. Everything was found and now installing -- along with taking inventory and starting on an office property since the ex moved out (she got both in her divorce and has never done any home improvement).

I saw the baby advise thread, but felt it was pretty well covered -- with the possible exception of "trust your gut." That voice deep inside will tell you when something is not right and to persist. Anyway, I send my congrats and best wishes, Robo and Baby Robo. Have fun and enjoy every moment -- even the ones that drive you a little crazy. They go so fast..

    And that racoon is adorable!

    Pardon the hijack, Robo! :-)

eld6161, my PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Manager) wouldn't pay for the Restasis. So I was then prescribed Xiidra, pronounced Zidra, which I'm told they would pay for. My eye doc had a coupon that the pharmacy accept for a 30 day supply that was FREE for me to try. I was shocked to hear that Retsasis sometimes takes a YEAR to be effective, according to my doc.

I thought I had every type of OTC eye drop that's ever been made here, but I didn't have any artificial tears, which were among the many things they said to try to reduce the irritation. So I got some today at the local CVS and tried the drops again, which I keep chilled in the fridge as another trick to reduce the pain when used. I will say that they helped a lot, as yesterday was frightening!

If they help, I will be thrilled as my dry eyes and working on a laptop for long hours, and then HOPING to sew for fun, my eyes typically hurt a lot.

cattyles, Before I started this job at the company that I've been with for 30 years, I was able to take 2 weeks of vacation in the fall, and I sewed like a mad woman for an employee only craft show at work. I LOVE to create things from flat pieces of fabric, turning them into 3D things. Sadly, my busy season now is from Sept - January, so I squeeze things in when I can. This was a mouse from years ago writing Santa for cheese for his family. The paper is tea-dyed and baked in the over and his feet and pencil are birch twigs.

This is a wool felt star shaped Santa ornament, with a vintage mink fur-trimmed hood, clay face that I made and painted, and his beard is roving from a rare breed of Cotswold sheep raised at a farm in Maine. I use a lot of antique quilt scraps, old furs that people have given me, and I hope to retire in a few years and enjoy myself by doing this!

A few more - first 2 are ornaments and last are standing snowmen made from scraps. Cones and twigs are from my yard and hats are bits of antique quilts, which used to be a lot easier to find than they are now. VERY little goes to waste here!

Blfenton - it was totally on time! Thank you for the lovely package and card. I received packages from three Canadians and each one had a little bit of Canadian pride in it which I really appreciated :-) the mittens are adorable and the lovey is so cute and soft!

Robo, I didn't participate in virtual show, I wasn't really sure what it was and I'm not that great with the computer!! It looks like it was a lot of fun and certainly you received many beautiful gifts for your new baby, many many best wishes. Mtn certainly knows how to throw a party!!

Sorry I missed it Robo. I just must say that you look so radiant and beautiful. Looks like a fun time! Sending good wishes!

Sorry if anyone who wanted to join in missed the threads where I mentioned it (Nursery on a Budget, Baby Advice for Robo, and one that said something like "For those outside of the Maritime Provinces" ... to keep Robo from peeking, LOL). Send me a message if you have any questions.

Robo, You have a lot of energy for someone this far along. Good for you!

Thanks so much for all the well wishes :)

my3dogs, your art truly is amazing, the face on that santa is incredible!! And I just love the mouse and his note.

Mtn you did such an amazing job, thanks so much for organizing! I truly had a very fun few weeks leading up to an even funner afternoon! I really did brag about my online shower to all and sundry, in fact just between us I was more excited about it than I am for my in-person shower next weekend (probably because I got a dozen packages in the mail!)

the concert last night was loooong and I am dragging tail now. Had to get up early to take puppy to the park and then visit my 95-yo grandmother for brunch today. Will very much enjoy hitting the pillow tonight!

Aww!!! I had intended to log on but got waylaid by kid activities (you'll find out about those in short order, lol!) I am so glad you had a lovely, pampered time...that's what it's all about! That cake was gorgeous! Enjoy this last bit of time when your little one is all yours...and best wishes for a lovely delivery!!

What fun! And gifts arriving at the door? - awesome, congratulations on the baby.

My3dogs, you know I adore all your creations.

I am so sorry that I missed it, Robo! I initially signed up to "attend" your virtual baby shower (and did contribute), but this Saturday morning instead found myself in our car heading from our rented house on the Oregon Coast up to tour some other cute beach towns north of us. I was outvoted by my DH, Sis and BIL, who were anxious to get an early start. I'm so glad it went well and that you had a fun time, though.

Robo - I'm so glad it was on time. Aren't those mittens just the cutest things, especially with the Bay colours on them.

Mtn - Thanks for all your hard work in doing this and making sure that robo felt special. All new moms need to feel that before reality sets in.

Reality? What reality? Isn't it all easy breezy from here on in? ;) had a growth ultrasound today and the little guy is measuring about a week and a half "ahead" (big). So...is it too late to take up smoking?

Robo, sorry I couldn't make it. It was birthday celebration weekend for both grandkids.

Tell your sister she's a doll and needs to start hamming it up like you. lol. BTW, you are just glowing!!

Robo, everything looks so perfect! I am so sorry I couldn't participate as it looks like it was so much fun! We had a weekend retreat and I couldn't break away where I could get wifi. Perfectly wrapped gifts, beautiful cake, the succulents, and I would have enjoyed seeing all the baby pics folks sent in. Mtn did a fabulous job getting it all organized. And you! You look marvelous in your pregnancy! So, so happy for you!
