Pretty color, but I envisioned a little darker green. What trim color would you recommend with that?

But would you say steer away from darker since the stone is so light? I have a lot to learn about paint color choices.

Does the Silver Streak have a lot of blue in it?

Yes, it does…but I am correlating to that particular green.

You need to settle on your green first…that will determine the undertone of the gray.

I guess I was working backwards with the colors. I was trying to coordinate the trim color to the stone, then add the green. We like dusty, woodsy colors (I don't even know if that's the way to describe it)..

I think your most recent green may be too dark, but it's closer than the first green..if that helps.

And I think my stone pic makes the stone look darker than it really is.

BTW, the stone is Hamilton Farmledge by StoneCraft, if that helps.

JudyG Designs, do you recommend that last green or should I look around some more? I didn't know if that was too dark compared to stone, but I'm not an expert.

@JudyGDesigns, my husband liked the green sample he applied to house. It's a Lowes color, Smoky Olive 6001-2B. Can a charcoal go with it? Would Lowes Semi-Sweet 4003-2C or SW Porpoise SW work as trim? What would you recommend? Do I just forget the lightness of the stone and just get nice paint colors that work together? TIA

What I am seeing on my monitor:….the stone has a definite green cast through out. I like what your husband likes: but gray…unless it has a green undertone, will not work IMO. So, the lighter color is Valspar Hunter White. This is my thought…the body of the house is painted Hunter White and the trim Smokey Olive. Because the stone will meet paint and this lighter choice maybe the better meeting the stone.

maybe a little tone of it. definite shades of gray, a little darker gray and a taupey goldish.. I really like the idea of green. Just dont know how to tie a painted trim with green exterior. We really like the first inspiration pic I posted. Want a woodsy rustic green. Seems like the inspiration pic shows trim in a darker green. I'm wondering if I should ignore trying to do a gray trim and focus on green only.

We are really liking your suggestion. That is the green we tried on wall. My husband said he would really rather have the wall green instead of the trim. Would it work that way or better have the darker color as the trim against the stone? I might just pick up the lighter color and try it out both ways.

Yes, I am suggesting that you consider the lighter color for the body of the house.

Think…stone meeting paint color. Do you want it to meet darker or lighter? It really is a matter of preference…. If you go light, the stone and paint blend, but you have two different textures.

Personally, I prefer the trim darker...

I really think a charcoal brown looks like what is in my inspiration pics. I just want it to look good with my gray stone. So I suggested black because I haven't found a gray that ties the stone to the green without looking like it has a blue undertone. I'm so nervous about choosing the correct trim color.

This is a black...I think it looks good. I tried the Valspar paint visualizer (have you tried that?) and didn't see any charcoal or grays that worked together, but that's just me. Personally I would lighten up that green. I don't think you will like anything that dark, with a charcoal gray.

How about BM Midsummer Night? Does it have a blue undertone? I don't want one with a blue undertone.

Part of what makes this hard is that the lake home is a little over 2 hours drive away, and so even if i do find some color samples to try I have to drive, paint on samples, and if I don't like them I drive home, research more color ideas and get more paint samples and next time I go to lake I try those samples and the cycle continues. I am supposed to have colors chosen for my painter by next week. I'm down to choosing trim color but I don't know how to use online aides to coordinate colors. Can anyone better with colors help?

You don't like anything that gets suggested. Why not use the online visualizers? You can upload pictures of your home and apply the color you like to see how it looks.

I actually tried all the samples suggested but none worked. And I'm not a techy person. I don't know how to use online services. I figured there might b someone out there that knows colors much better than I. I appreciate everyone's suggestion.

I did that ^^ in less than five minutes. Benjamin Moore's site. It's super simple. Valspar has the same thing.

Now, I think the brown looks like crap with dark olive-y greens. A near-black would work better. Or a different green, darker brown..

Again - maybe 2 minutes. You can pick ANY color and drop it into the trim, or the doors, or the siding...and you can pick different styles of houses. Just TRY it,

You have to consider your roof color too. Its brown right? So I think you are right that a dark brown trim is best and brown looks great with green.

Sorry but its hard to photoshop or use a visualizer with the pic you posted since none of the details are in place.

The angle of the roof makes new shingles look a little brown, but their color is Weathered Wood. I just picked up another sample to try for trim. It's called SW Porpoise. Crossing my fingers it will look good. Will be able to check tomorrow. Thanks!

Hope so. Maybe SW Urbane Bronze? Same tone but a little darker.

I like the Porpoise color, and the Urbane Bronze too.

The first two have Urbane Bronze trim. The last one is Porpoise.

No I messed up. The first one is Porpoise on the trim. The second is Urbane Bronze on the trim. The third one is Urbane Bronze on the shutters.
