Please help with lighting layout

Hi,

I am having trouble making a recess lighting layout for my electrician. I felt that the ceiling is too low at 8'4" to put fixtures in so I wanted to do all recessed. I've done some research and found a calculator that recommended at 50 watts per bulb I was recommended 12 lights in the master bedroom, but based on another article with 8' with 4" lights I need to make them no further than 4' apart meaning it would take more than 12 lights total to light the master bedroom.

Can someone please help me with a layout for the three areas?:

Master Bedroom

Living Room

Family Room

The living and family room have actually been combined for a nice playroom

Are the fixtures you are looking at adjustable were you looking at chandeliers or pendants they are other options like flush mount chandeliers. does it necessarily have to be 4 feet apart?

I'm trying to avoid having anything hang from the ceiling but I suppose I could put one in the middle of the bedroom. I read somewhere that 4ft apart was what I needed to fill the room. I'm open to other suggestions. Being my first time doing this, I really don't want to mess it up.

How about using 5 recessed lighting at 4' and 2 inches of space at the window nook and the opposite side. I don't know if your bedroom is 21'x21' though that way you can do it all around

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Use only 5 recessed cans at 4' apart?

My room is 21'4" x 19'8"

Yes, space each can 4' that would be a total of 20 can lights

That's what I was hoping to avoid as well. Too many cans. So if I put a flush mount chandelier around the center. That could eliminate a lot of cans right? Maybe then I can just put cans around the perimeter?

Yes I would use the 12 can lights and place lighting in the center but you would have to space the can lights more than 4 feet
