Congratulations, Rosie! Did the sucker come from the (dead) crown or from a side leaf?

Anne, I thought of that as soon as I opened my eyes this morning. I checked, and it looks as though (keep your fingers crossed!) that it is a sucker NOT attached to a side leaf. Hard to tell because when she lost her head she only had 2 rows of rosette leaves left. Remember, I just got her at the Ann Arbor Sale this spring! THAT is why I was soooooo disappointed in her.

Darn, now that I am thinking about it, should that sucker be on the very top? With this new thought I am not so happy now, and I won't know til it grows and blooms,,,right? This is gonna take a lifetime!

But it does look like the sucker is not attached to the actual leaf stem. We have a long wait, friends. Keep your fingers crossed! Rosie

Suckers are mostly attached to the main stem, not to the leaf stem. But they can grow anywhere - in a middle of the leaf if it had a small nick there.

Awe. So excited for you Rosie! My chopped ones are already showing suckers after only 2 weeks barely! So much faster than from a leaf hah. Let us sit back and watch the show! Put me on the list for an extra sucker baby! Would love to try a red one.
