Ceiling fixture dilemma

We are redoing the kitchen in our little bungalow and I'm loving the chrome pulls and "Seattle" ceiling fixtures that now come in all the types of lighting I want to have installed. Our dining room chandelier also needs to be replaced as well as two hallway ceiling lights. I'd like to do them all the same "Seattle" style, but our living/dining has a pine wall (deal-breaker to my husband), lots of browns & reds and antiques. Will the pop of chrome look too strange in the middle of all that? Is it okay to have all the fixtures match?

At the end of the day, I've decided to choose lighting that's more in line with the rest of my decor (no antlers, however - LOL). As for my husband and his paneling: In all other aspects of life, he's treated me like a princess for 38 years, so I am happy to let him have his paneling... After all, there are more important things in life than decor. what the heck is it with 'husbands' and 'paneled walls'? ... I will never understand that.

I'm sorry, I do not think that fixture works in that room.

I agree, I don't think the chrome will work that that space. Maybe try something like our autumn leaves fixtures, or our fire stone fixture to keep within the same color schemes as your space.

No chrome for this home...there are some nifty chandeliers of antlers or tree branches that your husband would probably give the thumbs up to.

Complimentary fixtures are nicer than matching ones. You don't mention if the kitchen is open to the area we are seeing, but your husband is right about chrome here....and your current chandelier looks appropriate to the space.
If your kitchen is behind closed doors, you could put in your new light, with the understanding that you are making a marked departure from the style of the rest of the house. If you intend to eventually bring all the decor into this newer vision, this is a good place to test it out. If not, you may want to reconsider this particular chrome fixture for something more stylistically homogenous.

Oh my... I want to get away from that look, not add to it, and the rest of my space is very eclectic including family heirlooms that don't go well with pine walls at all. I guess I'll have to re-think all of this. Thanks for your postings so far.

skeldon -- you gotta convince your hubby to get rid of the wood tongue&groove walls. it screams 1950's 'early american', and I suspect those are NOT words you would use to describe your style. It has obviously been very well maintained and cared for, but that does not matter. To take the space in the direction that you want to go, you gotta get rid of it.
