Different width laminate planks.

I installed 4 7/8 in. beveled edge laminate planks in my foyer and kitchen. Now I would like to add it to the rest of my first floor. The laminate that I purchased is no longer available. I can find two products that match the color and texture, however, one is 3/8 in. larger in width with a beveled edge and the other is a 7 1/2 in. square edge that gives the illusion of two planks but has no obvious edge. I am struggling with the fact that the new planks would butt up against the old on the width edge and even though I would have a T-strip, it would be obvious that the widths did not match. I don't really want to change the directions of the new flooring. Would it be better to use the 7 1/2 inch strip with the square edge so the difference wouldn't be as obvious?

It does sound better to use the 7 1/2 inch.

The lack of bevel is going to SCREAM OUT different floor. Regardless of the direction. The bevelled edge version can be put at an angle to create a 'decorative variation' and thus hide the difference in plank size.

I know you don't want to change direction...but you might have to. I've seen bevel vs. non-bevel sitting side by side...and it is quite obvious it is two different floors. Which is exactly what you DO NOT WANT.

A beveled floor put on a 45deg angle gives you a sporting chance that no one will notice the plank width difference. This is the best case scenario.

And then there is the "best" option = put the same flooring throughout. Which means removing what is currently installed. This is what you are trying to avoid...I get that. But the alternative to the angled install is the complete do-over.

I'm sorry you discovered what so many have discovered: man-made products have a shelf life of 18 - 24 months. What you have run into (being unable to source more of the same) is so common, that it is one of the most common complaints/situations on Houzz.

I wish you luck. Personally I would use the beveled product, run it at an "artistic" angle and enjoy. The non-beveled floor will instantly give the "I ran out of flooring before I could finish" impression that you are trying to avoid.
