Indentify palms and sun shade requirement

I have two palms trees which I think are fan palms, am I right? And I was thinking to relocate them to another place as they were planted against foundations and one is starting blocking the view from the screen porch at the upper floor. Can they be in shade 70 percent of time and how close can I replant them to each other? And the root to dig out will be 2 ft around enough? Tree is 8 ft tall and 6 in round. In Columbia SC. Thanks!

Trachycarpus fortunei. Those look mighty big to move. I've moved one third that size, but it sulked a while. You might just remove and plant new from container.

In a marginal climate like in South Carolina, I'd wait to transplant a tree like that in Spring.

Yes.Common name windmill palm.I agree with other 2 posters.Windmill can be grown in sun or shade.In hot weather it does better in some shade.Beautiful tree.If you really want to move,I would not-I would hire someone that knows how to do it.50/50 if it will take.
