8 years agoLooking thru all the dining rooms done in queen anne, the style is very strong! I love your idea of new chairs...possibly something upholstered in a deep blue velvet to coordinate with your lovely rug. Also wainscoting lower and fabulous wall paper above?
My inspiration for suggestions above; lightening the rooms interiors makes the whole feeling lighter and fresher.

PRO8 years agoGreat room!! You can definitely change out the chandelier to make it a little more transitional. What do you think of this one? I would agree with others and change out your dining set.

First, does the china part of the china cabinet come off? If so, a mirror over the buffet reflecting a nice new chandelier would be great. But, first, what about redoing the existing set in a off white with either some gold enhancements or blue. A Scandinavian type look. I like the lighter look personally, but you could do black as well, just depends on what look you might prefer. Here are a couple examples.
This is a very pretty look and would lighten up your dining room beautifully.

Palm House · More Info - PRO8 years agoThese chairs are very similar to yours and with a gray paint and some touches of perhaps blue, could work for your chairs. That set is probably better quality furniture than you can buy today, especially for a modest budget so I would consider repurposing before purchasing new that are of lower quality. Just some options to consider.
