Bathroom remodel ideas?

Embarking upon a bathroom remodel in a new-to-me 20's bungalow and need some ideas. Here's what I'm working with:

Top two images are the bathroom as it was, bottom two after some demo.

Kind of a strange layout, so here's an approximate floorplan:

Yes, there are two doors: one to a small hallway, the other directly to a bedroom. The plumbing for the tub is in the half wall between the tub and vanity, with kind of an access panel on the vanity side. Best guess is there was originally just a tub, and eventually someone added a shower by throwing a board up, slapping new tile over old, and installing a tub spout handheld.

I know where I'm headed aesthetically - light, bright, and vintage-style. Probably board-and-batten and subway tile. What I'm stuck on is the wall between the tub and vanity. Originally the plan was to rebuild it for a fixed showerhead instead of a handheld, but when it came down during demo it opened up the room so much, I'd really prefer not to build it back.

Unfortunately moving plumbing or fixtures isn't really in the cards (budget and time), so I'm stuck with a left-hand drain tub. A shower is a requirement, so I'm looking for creative solutions for the end wall. I've considered everything from glass panels to L-shaped shower curtains, but can't seem to settle on anything workable.

I like this in theory, and it's the closest image I've found to my situation, but in practice I don't like tub doors or handhelds, and I can't think of a way to make this work without them.

This is also interesting, but obviously the showerhead isn't mounted on the wall with the glass panel, and I'm not sure mounting it on the horizontal cross-bar would look right.

Anyone have any brilliant ideas? Or am I stuck building a standard end wall and turning my bathroom back into a hallway?

Thanks in advance for any help!
