Look what I found at the local nursery today!

I almost passed out when I saw the size of these plants!!! I think the one is S. aubrytiana and the second is definitely S. t. 'Tenzan'. The aubrytiana had flowered and was still sweetly fragrant. It was in a 16" huge pot and the leaf tips stood as tall as me! 5'1"! The Tenzan was only a little smaller at maybe 4'6".

For a mere $99.99, these could be yours! Of course, you would need two people to move them because I could barely slide the aubrytiana out of the way to photograph the Tenzan!

It's so much fun to find a beautiful speciman plant like these two.

i have a big plant that I rescued a couple of years ago in a 4 inch pot, now it's in a 12 inch pot! I think it may be aubryriana. It was labeled Jaboa, I think, or maybe hybrid Ayo. Both commercial names, most likely. Anyway, I took a picture, tell me if you think it's the same as in your pictures. I will probably divide it up next year, since it's getting too heavy for me to lift. Maybe you would like some?

Look at that baby! 4" pot? Ha! It is beautiful, Barb. I read that you can tell aubrytiana by its "zig zag" mottling, so I could kind of see that on the specimens I saw. Do you think you could take a closer pic of this plant, Barb? It's hard to tell with the lighting. Also, the growth habit does look different than the very upright plant I saw.

Last year Katrina posted a picture of a plant she bought as Joboa, or at least I remember it that way. There was a whole discussion about Jaboa vs. aubrytiana vs. Ayo. You may remember it? If I recall correctly, our resident experts agreed they were all the same plant. But seeing yours makes me think otherwise. Hmmmmm....

And if ever divide it, I would love a piece! Thank you for the offer. Perhaps we can trade plants. I may have something you can't live without as well. Lol. Thanks Barb!

I think growing condition make most of the differences. I bet those big plants you found were grown overseas or in a hot humid green house. I suspect that a lot of Florida nurseries import their plants and resell them with us thinking they were grown here in the US. I saw adds for whole sale sans at fantastic prices from over seas. Only you have to order a hundred of them at a time.

I'll try to take another picture tomorrow. Here are links to those discussions. I was surprised that I got my plant in May, 2016. The fastest growing sans ever. That sad looking little plant is the big one only a little over ayear later.

I got a couple of closeups with some sun on them. I agree, my plant is more spread out and your photos show a more upright habit, but as Stush said, growing conditions make a big difference. I lived in Fla for several years, and plants down there were awesome.
