Sooty canker on ficus

I just bought a ficus a few weeks ago and found cankers on the deadwood on the top of the tree can I just saw this off and it will be fixed

This is after I chopped it and after I carved out more fungus that I saw .hope it stays alive water keeps coming up from the hole hope the sapwood will be ok so close to the branches . The leaves seem fine not sure what to do now

I hope you get some help. I grow a lot of Ficus but have never run into an issue like this.

if you bought this Ficus a few weeks ago from a store, I would have returned it and not chopped it.

posting in the correct forum may yield more help though. This is the edible fig section. You have a Ficus Benjamina.
