What zone are you in? It is fall. It is hard to overwater hosta. Some hostas do go out early and some stay wonderful well into October here in zone 5.

Zone 8b I think, central Texas...temps still in the 90s, etc. So the calendar may say 'Fall', but still feels like summer here.

Shorter days/cooler nights. Some go out with fanfare and turn beautiful shades of yellow, and others just do what yours is doing. Many of the folks up north get a killing frost in October so they don't suffer the "agony" that we warmer winter peeps get with a long, drawn out time to dormancy. On the plus side, ours will come up sooner than theirs in Spring.

water when a plant NEEDS water.. insert finger.. and find out ... however.. in later fall ... with day heat falling.. and night heat darn COLD ... watering needs should reduce ... but dont let them go thru winter bone dry ...
