I ordered Joyful and I was really looking forward to seeing it bloom! But alas, I got so busy with moving and my sister passing away that I didn't check it when cooler weather came in after potting. It must have had some damage in shipping I didn't catch because it took to rotting right where the graft joined the caudex and spread both directions from there. So sad. I hadn't had it long at all. Yours is lovely!

Maybe next year I can trade some cuttings for a cutting of someone's Joyful and try grafting it. Or maybe one of my supposedly yellow seedlings will produce something enjoyable next year when they are old enough to start blooming.

Hey Patty, sorry haven't been on as much lately so I just saw your comment. Sorry for your sisters loss and I hope your plants bring you some happiness aso they do me when I'm having a bad day. I was super glad with joyful but I actually lost it to some heavy rains we had recently. I was able to use some healthy branches to graft and it looks like I might get lucky and at least one or two will work.

Also I wouldn't mind sending you a cutting if you'd like next year once it gets worse armed again and better for grafting :)

That is very kind of you, thank you. Let's see where I am with things next year and see how your grafts take off. I do have a number of seedlings from yellow parents and I am hopeful that one or more of them will turn out to be good yellows. That said, if my adeniums settle in well next season, I would be very pleased to swap cuttings, seedlings, or grafted plants with some of my fellow collectors. I'm in no hurry while I am between selling one house and buying another. Get them through this winter, first. They did grow very well this year.
