Could be Celeste?

did you ID the fig romanrich? I have one which looks exactly the same, and I thought I was purchasing a "brown turkey fig". it was dormant when I got it 14 months ago. since doing some recent research to identify a couple of other mystery figs that I have - I started to suspect that the BT was mislabeled. the photo below is of a couple of cuttings that I'm growing - which have the same leaves as the parent plant. I havn't had any fruit off the parent plant yet, as it's not big enough and quite spindly just like the cuttings. the closest I've come to an id based on leaves only is a Violette de Bordeaux - but I'm not experienced enough with figs to be confident with that conclusion. hopefully if you've identified your fig variety - I'll know what mine is :-)

I was just following up on the suggestion of Celeste by Moses (thank you), and that led me to a photo of a Brunswick (aka Magnolia in the US). Brunswick is a variety known to still be grown in Australia, so I suppose I've got a couple of possibilities now and will just need to wait for some fruit to narrow down the ID.

Thanks both of you. Mine could be Celeste, from what I googled it is similar. Yours is close too. Though it appears a bit skinnier, but who knows.

yes romanrich - my fig does look to have skinnier leaves. they look very dainty compared to my other figs, and it's very compact with multiple stems. I just took this pic of the parent plant, and noticed it has both 3 and 5 fingered leaves with the 2 thumbs, and the largest leaf measured 11cm in length. it still has it's nursery label identifying it as a BT, however it's maybe either a Celeste, VdB, or Brunswick - and only fruiting will tell. I do love a good fig mystery though :-)

Leaves can help ID a fig but you really need to see the fruit.

Many fig varieties share leaf shapes and are not necessarily in the same fig family/group.
