Great site! I especially like the 'Hosta Lingo' section - very well done.

I noticed a couple of things on the Barnes Garden page:

1) Right above the first set of photos, you've left in some template text after "Note that clicking on a photo will open a full-size view."

2) In that set of photos, the second one titled 'Merion Campus' has the caption "12 acres makes a respectable urban arboretum." Merion is actually an inner-ring suburb and outside the city limits of Philadelphia, but perhaps I'm just nit-picking since I live not far from the Barnes. :-)

Well, two blocks from the city limit... We're still characterizing it as an urban installation. Thanks for spotting the template text. It's been a while since I poked at that page. I've been busy on the convention website. Will you be attending?

Many years ago (in a forum long gone a far away) the members posted a bunch of FAQ's to answer the most asked questions that keep getting repeated year after year. Then IVillage bought the forum (from Spike?) and a very delightful member named Caliloo took the time to make a FAQ page back in 2013, I think. It had a list of questions, then green links to click on for the answers. Alas that is gone too and all that is left is this link to 33 questions which is sadly out of date and requires scrolling down too much.

At one time these were the most asked questions, and if they are addressed in your FAQ, David, it would be a good thing.

The AHS puts out a pamphlet (brochure) called the 'Hosta Adventure'. They have a new one now for something like $5, but few people know about it. Oh how I wish the AHS would put that online. I only had an early edition of it many years ago, but it covered everything from the parts of a hosta plant to diseases, and dormancy and dividing. A wonderful publication for a beginner.

Perhaps a "Newbie" section on your website that has links to the 10 or 15 most frequently asked questions would be good. The question...then the link to the answer, rather than having to scroll down thru paragraphs of questions an answers.

Geez how much time do you have to fool with this? Dedicated young man!

I'm not so young as I once was. The question list that Caliloo created came from the Westside Hosta FAQ that I helped build with input from Hallson's folks. It still has a presence on the Wayback machine at https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://hostafaq.westside.com/ if you want to take a trip down memory lane. I did draw from that (notably the Dirty Dozen Hostas, Undulata Variations and Lingo pages) in creating the DVHS site.

Wix (the website platform) has just released a plug-in for FAQs that shows the question with a ˅ next to it for opening the answer (and then a ˄ to close it). I'll work on implementing that, which should help the scrolling problem.

As if I didn't have enough to do today... I used that Wix plugin to streamline the FAQs. I like it!

Great information David!

A few small points:

(1) Part I. What is a hosta society? I am unclear as to what this means: "Officially, most are 501(c)3 organizations . . . "

(2) Should I cut down my hostas in the fall? I think it would be a good idea to mention about disinfecting your tools. I know you mention it elsewhere, but sometimes people skip other questions and they might miss how important it is to have clean tools.

(3) In Part II about why hostas get smaller after a couple of years---do you want to mention about spin out bags or explain that one can just plant a pot directly into the soil to help with root invasion?
