Above-garage office renovation

We are converting the space above our garage into an office/bonus room. It is the detached from the main house, but not by much, so we need help figuring out the best way to include stairs and/or any new doors. Our current design is basically stairs on inside of the garage with 90° turn and building a new dormer to allow for necessary head height. We were going to put the access door at the base of the stairs so that the upstairs room does not feel as enclosed, but this also puts that door in close proximity to the garage swing door downstairs and would eat up a lot of room in the garage itself. Is there any better alternative that would utilize the space better, both aesthetically and functionally or does attempting a breezeway from the house make any sense? Also, there don't currently any plumbing running out to the garage, but don't know if it makes sense to attempt a half-bath in the amount of space we have.
