Photo from 2011 - Starter Plants

I found the following photo on my system ... from around the fall of 2010.

These are Lyndon Lyon starter plants ... blooming for the first time.

I think these include my first Anastasia, Perfect Harmony, Sunkissed Rose, San Mateo Blues, Sweet Talker, Super Duper, Splendid Chaos, etc.

Unfortunately these plants didn't survive ... as many were over-fertilized shortly thereafter.

I liked ... and have reacquired ... Anastasia, Perfect Harmony, Splendid Chaos, and San Mateo Blues.

Earlier Incarnation of San Mateo Blues

I didn't really like Sunkissed Rose. It's flowers' pale yellow and rose shading ... made them look faded. It's foliage was interesting, though a little lighter in color. It was quite vigorous and floriferous, but it seemed to be susceptible to Crown Rot sudden death in the summer.

I'm not really a fan of salmon-colored violets (i.e. Sweet Talker), but I took a chance with Sweet Talker. I just chose not to replace it. I do, however, currently have a violet named Sansoucy Splendide, which I thought would be a nice bright medium pink, ... but has bloomed an almost-red coral. I like its color.

Super Duper was a fun plant. It grew quickly ... and bloomed big pink semi-double blooms. But, if I remember correctly, its form was kind of crazy.

What a shame. This collection of plants looked so nice together even as small as they were.

As Marina keeps reminding us...I would be taking leaves from my own new plants.... but no more room to grow them! I may be sadly dooming myself to a similar fate someday.

In a long run... which ones you would like to reacquire? Which ones - probably not?

I think I have less than a dozen that would require a repurchase if I lost the whole bunch. What would be the point. It's like remarrying your ex wife or husband.

I have a long wish list that I will never live long enough to acquire all of. A more interesting list would be if you lost your collection to some odd occurrence, what would your first three replacements be?

I would require a little time for thought on that one!

On another note aegis, those are/were some really happy plants.

I've grown AV's now for 10-15 years ... on and off. So, I have tried a number of different plants.

I have a few plants which are pretty tried and true. I don't know that I could limit myself to (3), but these are some that I'd like to retain ...
