I just planted one in my hummingbird/pollinator garden. It's still tiny though.

You'd be surprised how big they get! If it flowers and seeds over you may get some more volunteers pop up next year.

You are lucky - pineapple sage is not hardy in many areas. I have never had one survive a winter in my area, despite it being listed hardy to z8. And it is a late bloomer that needs heat to flower well and we just don't have much summer heat here so flowering is often sparse before a frost hits.

OTOH, Salvia microphylla 'Hot Lips' overwinters here beautifully, becomes a good sized shrub (4'x3') and blooms from late spring to frost. My hummers love it.

My pineapple sage, in it's 2nd year, is about 6 foot wide and as tall. I don't think we still have hummingbirds here though (watched yesterday to see if they were feeding on that sage) this year.
