Looks right. 'Paradigm' gets quite big!

And it should look better and better each year. Paradigm is considered to be a sun tolerant hosta so you may even consider moving it to a location with more sun. My Paradigm is in a pot and has been growing a little slower than I would like. But it has gotten prettier each year.

I am just shocked that this "baby" hosta is so big with only a few leaves. Every other young hosta I ordered from various places had the similar amount of leaves but it was only 4 - 6" tall overall.

Patti, my Paradigm is 2-3 years old and about 24" tall and 36" wide. Still young and growing. Also looking good in mid October in Michigan!

I didn't realize the Paradigm grew that big! I was told it matures to a 24" width. That explains the humongous starter plant leaves then. I guess I should move like away from the hydrangea a bit, like Ninamarie said. It's 24" away from it right now.

Paradigm will easily get 20" x 48".

Nice hosta! Yes, definitely move it to where it has room. How wide will the hydrangea get? Five feet? If so, and the hosta will get four feet, I'd put the hosta at least five feet away, giving both of them room.

Oh good to know. I do have a spot that I'd like to move it to, where there's more room for it to mature. But it's close to cedar trees, and I haven't had much luck with anything growing close to those trees. I am trying a cheap hosta there right now to see if it will come back in the spring. Has anyone had that experience trying to grow plants near cedars?

My DH says that Paradigm should have an alternate name "Twenty Cents" I like it and may put in a second label. What do you think?

Patti, I have a cedar hedge. It has been there as long as I have been in my house (30 years). The hedge is now approximately 8 to 10 feet. I wouldn't advise planting near cedars if they are mature. Maybe if they are still young, you will have a chance to grow decent hosta. But when I dig, I find a lot of orange colored cedar roots. So I tend to plant a fair distance from the cedars or use spin out bags. But i also have maple trees so that compounds the problem.

They grow very big and a plant you will get loads of compliments on when it grows more. Give it loads of room
