do moldings need to match trim?

I am currently renovating our new home. We have colonial style crown and base moldings but i want to put craftsman style window and door trim. Is this ok to do or do they always need to match the same style? We have a craftsman style entry door with dentil shelf and all our interior doors are 2 panel shaker style.

Replace the colonial molding…..everything else is simple and square.

If replacing is a problem, paint the colonial molding the same color as the walls in flat finish.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Will it really look that off that I would need to paint them the same color such as to hide it? It has the colonial crown because that is what our kitchen crown has and we wanted it to match. Pic of the kitchen crown(disregard the tape)
