Ok. All of the four seeds germinated. I forgot to post pictures. The little white piece that's supposed to be roots were planted pointed downward. They are in regular soil in a plastic pot (with holes in the bottom). I put the pot in a large ziplock Baggie). Now I'm waiting till something pops up.

I just tried for my first time in my basement with a led grow light and there all sprouting already about a inch tall in only a week

This is just an experiment. I'll give them to my family if they grow too big and I don't find room for them. I'm still waiting for one more to pop up. This is also like my own journal for when I plant more next year.

I used pliers to hold the seed and then file one side with an electric nail file until I saw white. One side of the seed has a lighter marking or scratch already on it so I filed the other side. Then I put them in very warm water. I changed the water daily. The seeds sprouted in about two days. I planted them 1/2 inch deep (sprout down-seed head upwards) in about 1 1/2 weeks in regular potting soil. Placed in a small pot and then in a gallon sized ziplock bag. Put the bag by a sunny window and bang the sprouts came up out of the soil. So I opened the bag but left it by the window.... More progress later.

Andy, do you have any fertilizer in your soil or do they need fertilizer?

    Update: growing fast.

That's quite impressive how fast they grew

Cathy I bought topsoil dirt with peat moss in it from menards a 20 lbs bag for 2 bucks I’m not sure what’s all in it lol

My soil is Pennington potting soil. Nothing added either. It's the cheaper brand of MG. I mix it with everything.

Update: I guess it's time to give them individual pots now.

Andy, send me a private message

    I just sent you a e-mail

Cathy, I've tried 2 times to send you a msg, houzz must be having issues again, if the bulbs feels dry to you, you can store them, a closet may be to warm for them though.

Christine, I received your message. I'll put them outside in a cardboard box and wrap them in newspaper. (?).

Houzz is acting up. I can't reply to messages.
