highly advise to cross post your question in Kitchens forum..that's the one dedicated completely to kitchen remodels, from possible layout to materials

just copy paste everything and put it there

good luck!

Oh, april, people on Design Dilemma love a good kitchen too!

1) I like the symmetric effect, but honestly, a 12-inch cabinet is WAY less useful than a wider one, so I would go with option #2 for that reason alone.

2) with such a tight kitchen, are you sure you'd rather have that stack of ovens than, say, a range, an OTR microwave, and a tall pantry? less cute, but so much more functional for most.

3) for lowers, go with as many drawers as possible. most people need a couple of cabinets (say, one for trash/recycling and one for food processer and other tall stuff), but the vast majority of kitchen ware stores way better in large drawers -- pots, pans, bakeware, storage containers -- and most people try to use as many drawers as possible. I usually like one smaller bank of 4 drawers, for kitchen towels, cooking implements, and all the other little stuff of kitchens, but if you have enough 3-drawer banks, then you might not need even that! For sure, plan on putting cookware under and close to your stove top.

Thank you both!

acm, I'll have a 10'x10' walk-in pantry so I'm not overly concerned with limited storage in the kitchen. I'd rather have all the cooking devices I want and have the small inconvenience of having to retrieve things from the pantry that won't fit in the kitchen.

acm sorry I didn't see it's Design Dilemma..was showing as "Remodeling Forum" only for me when I posted back

(frankly this merge is a bit confusing. now I can see both "Design Dilemma" and "Kitchens" were added as tags, so that's why probably now shows)

Having a 10 x 10 pantry and all drawer lowers...why bother with upper cabinets? Plan a location (drawer or shelf) for needed everyday glasses and plates. You will never miss uppers.
